Folkworks: Marry Waterson & Emily Barker

Monday 21 October, 7.45pm

English folk royalty meets Australian soul in this new collaboration between Marry Waterson and Emily Barker; an album of fly-on-the-wall observations of the contradictions and disconnections of modern life.

No strangers to collaboration, Waterson and Barker discovered an immediate kinship when they started writing together. The intriguing combination of Waterson’s poetic lyrics and Barker’s eclectic musicality has been shaped in the studio by musical polymath Adem Ilhan, with recording contributions from two of Barker’s live band: Lukas Drinkwater (bass and guitar) and Rob Pemberton (drums).

Serendipity worked her magic in bringing Waterson, Barker and Adem together. The resulting collection of songs pushes the boundaries of Barker and Waterson’s renowned roots styles, venturing into a diverse union of genres – contemporary folk, country and soul nestles comfortably alongside lilting indie and playful blues.’

“’A Window To Other Ways’ is the product of two revered musicians embarking upon an exciting, explorative journey, and a charmed collaboration.” - Folk Radio

Hello Again - The Story of Neil Diamond

Thursday 10 September 2020, 7.30pm

The world’s greatest celebration of the life and work of Neil Diamond. Tribute shows, homages, celebrations – there are just so many. Some good, some bad, they come and go in and out of vogue, much like the artists that they are emulating.

A very select few however, are just so good that they become a sensation in their own right, thus becoming a must see, the only show for fans of the original artist.

Hello Again-The Story of Neil Diamond most certainly falls into this category, with a cast that can proudly boast past credits to include Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Spice Girls, Bay City Rollers, Freddie Starr, Culture Club, The Drifters and many more, it’s no surprise that this show has accelerated itself to becoming the talk of theatre land.

Evocative imagery, video and narration enhance the magic, as the show takes you on a musical journey through Neil Diamond’s glittering 50-year career. From The Bang Years to the present day you’ll soon find yourself singing along to all the hits including Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, Forever in Blue Jeans, Song Sung Blue, Hello Again, Love on the Rocks, America and many more.
