Mountain Railway to host photo competition showcasing the best shots of Snowdon

Calling all budding photographers… Snowdon Mountain Railway is holding a photo contest to showcase the best shots taken on Wales’ tallest mountain.

The historic railway is asking amateur photographers of all ages to submit their images of the railway and the stunning scenery along its route for the chance to win a VIP trip to the summit, including an overnight stay at the nearby Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberis.

The best photos submitted each month will be shown on the railway’s website and social media over the summer, while the winning images will be printed and put on display in Llanberis later in the season.

Alan Kendall, general manager of Snowdon Mountain Railway, said:

“To celebrate the start of the summer season at Snowdon Mountain Railway, we’re looking for our talented and artistic visitors to really shine and send us their best snaps from their trips up the mountain.

“The only proviso is that the photographs include one of our trains, either at a station or on the mountain, or show the summit visitor centre within the image.

“So please send your best photos showcasing our engines and the spectacular views that can be enjoyed right along the route to the summit.”

Along with the first prize of return travel for two on the Heritage Steam Experience, plus one night’s dinner, bed and breakfast at the Royal Victoria Hotel, there are second and third prizes of return tickets for two adults on the heritage steam and traditional diesel services respectively.

Competition entries can be submitted until August 31, 2017, through the Snowdon Mountain Railway website: www.snowdonrailway.co.uk.
